Self-Management of Wireless Base Stations

چکیده
This paper presents an autonomous, self-organizing and decentralized configuration and management system for a group of base stations in wireless networks. Compared to existing systems, where a central node computes and disseminates management information, the system’s decentralized operation improves reliability by eliminating central points of failure and can decrease convergence times for large installations by enabling localized reconfiguration. A second novel feature is the integration of external, third-party input into the distributed configuration algorithm, improving the quality of the configuration result and convergence times. The paper describes the decentralized management approach and its prototype implementation. It also presents preliminary experimental results that illustrate the system’s scalability properties.

Cooperative proxy caching for wireless base stations
This paper proposes a mobile cache model to facilitate the cooperative proxy caching in wireless base stations. This mobile cache model uses a network cache line to record the caching state information about a web document for effective data search and cache space management. Based on the proposed mobile cache model, a P2P cooperative proxy caching scheme is proposed to use a self-configured an...

In traditional cellular systems with xed base stations the channel reuse pattern is static and deterministic. When the cell layout is dynamic, due to the mobility of base stations, the cluster of cells within co-channel interference range changes with time. Consequently, the channel reuse pattern is highly dynamic. Moreover, base stations also need wireless channels to communicate amongst thems...
متن کاملWireless Adhoc Networks in the Metropolitan/Wide Area: Concepts and First Results
– This paper is dedicated to on-going research activities in the field of wireless metropolitan and wide area networks with Quality-of-Service (QoS) guarantees. We focus on self-organizing systems, so-called adhoc networks, which can operate without any wired infrastructure (e.g. cellular base stations) – except for some interface points providing interconnectivity to other networks like the Pu...
